Jose D Noia

Jose D. Noia, 87, of New Bedford passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2019 in St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Maria C. (Lourenco) Noia to whom he was happily married for 62 years.

Born in Flores, Azores Portugal, a son of the late Antonio and Filomena (Dias) Noia he came to the United States in 1967. He was a devout Catholic and a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church.

Jose worked as a presser for Manly Incorporated for 21 years and then he worked at Cliftex Inc. up until his retirement. Jose loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed going to the Acushnet Senior Center and was a member of the Holy Name Society. Jose also enjoyed soccer and he was an enthusiastic Sporting fan and loved his Portuguese Heritage. He also loved telling stories of his horse (Lavrado), enjoyed photography and was the first person in his village to decorate a Christmas tree with lights.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Joe Noia and his wife Fernanda of New Bedford; two grandchildren, Jeffrey and his wife Sarah Noia and Krystle Noia; and two great grandchildren, Rylee and Jeremy Noia; and many nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at 9:00AM from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, 136 Earle St., New Bedford. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation Monday from 4:00 to 6:00PM. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant St., New Bedford.
