

Born in Baltimore, Maryland a son of the late Harry and Rebecca (Ackerman) Shatkowsky, he was a longtime resident of New Bedford. Julius was a graduate of Eastside High School, Patterson, NJ, class of 1940. He later joined the US Army Aircorp, serving during WWII and attained the rank of captain. He was the proud founder and owner of H. Loeb Corp for 67 years.
He loved his family, he enjoyed his volunteer work as a reader in the New Bedford Public Schools, a mentor in the Smiles Program, and a tutor in the Adult Education Program at New Bedford High School. He was an avid golfer, a member and past Grand Master at the NB Eureka Masonic Temple and a member of the VFW, Tuttle Post, as well as a former president of the Volunteers of America.
He is survived by two daughters, Harriet Gail Crump and her husband Ricky of Paris, TX and Marcia Faucher and her husband Gerald of Dartmouth, MA; a son, Jay Shaw and his wife Susan of San Diego, CA; three grandchildren, Geoffrey Faucher and his wife Kathy, Paul Faucher and his fiancé Melissa, and Lucas Shaw; one great-grandchild Logan Faucher. He was the brother of the late Leon Shaw.
Julius was committed to helping others, his family asks that you give of yourself to someone else.
