Louise Rita Parent

She was the daughter of the late Emile, Sr. and Constance Surprenant Parent. She was a New Bedford resident all of her life. She was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School Class of 1965.

She started her working years in the greater New Bedford area in the garment industry in various office positions at Economy Blouse, Kay Windsor, and Elco Dress. Her last twenty five years were spent as a cashier at Building 19 in New Bedford where she met many people and made friends.

Louise was a devout Catholic and she lived out her faith every day always looking to ways to help others whether they were family, friends, or strangers.

Her favorite quotations, both attributed to Mother Theresa of Calcutta were: “Love does not measure, it just gives” and “we cannot all do great things, we can do small things with great love.”

She is survived by brothers Paul Parent of Acushnet, Marc Parent and his wife Cheryl of New Bedford; and many nieces, nephews great nieces and great nephews. She was the sister of the late Emile Parent, Jr., Charles Parent, Muriel Parent, Gerard Parent, and Paulette Parent who was laid to rest July 21, 2023.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1359 Acushnet Ave., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
