Luis Alberto Matias

Born in St. Michael, Azores, a son of the late Carlos and Alexandria (Pimentel) Matias, he has been a long time resident of New Bedford. Luis served in the Portuguese Army; he was a devout husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed cooking for his family and was very creative with his recipes. He enjoyed spending time in his garage doing what he loved, working on his passion repairing cars for himself, family and friends. He was an avid Porto fan and enjoyed watching Soccer games with his friends at Bom Appetit.

In addition to his loving wife Maria, he is survived by his, daughter Emilia Medeiros and her husband Emanuel of New Bedford, daughter Patricia Connell of New Bedford, son Carlos Matias and his wife Jennifer of Fairhaven and son Robert Matias and his wife Jennifer of Dartmouth; his six grandchildren, Madison Medeiros, Makenna Connell, Aiden Connell, Caleb Matias, Jonah Matias and Lincoln Matias; a sister Alda Cabral of Portugal. He was predeceased by several brothers and a sister.

His memorial service will be held Saturday, December 4,2021 at 9:00AM in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle Street, New Bedford, MA 02746. Relatives and friends are invited.
