

Born in Acushnet, a son of the late Manuel and Irene (Costa) Vieira he was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mr. Vieira was a dedicated employee at ABC Disposal in New Bedford where he worked as a truck driver. He was a member of the Rod & Gun Club of New Bedford and enjoyed activities such as bowling and camping. He was a DJ for Memories by John and Twilight Sound. Manny enjoyed his CB radio and had the handle, Big Ace. His family remembers him as a jokester who loved to travel with his wife, Karen and a real jack of all trades. Manny also enjoyed classic cars, motorcycles and assembling model cars.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Eileen Medeiros of Dartmouth, Brenda Arruda of New Bedford, Karen Proctor of Bourbon, MO, Cherylann Simmons of Acushnet and Nicole Vieira of New Bedford; three sons, Matthew Graves of Spring Hill, FL, Scott Graves of New Bedford and Christopher Vieira of New Bedford; two sisters, Brenda Waller of Dartmouth, Joann Costa of New Bedford; a brother, Joseph Costa of New Bedford; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Robert and Diane Vieira.
His funeral mass will be Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1359 Acushnet Ave., New Bedford. Burial in Rural Cemetery, New Bedford. Visitation Monday 4-8 p.m. in Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
