

Muriel Cecile Brunelle (née LeBlanc), of New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on February 16, 1942, in Fall River, Massachusetts, she was the beloved daughter of the late Oscar and Irene LeBlanc.
Muriel was a proud graduate of St. Anthony High School. Her life was deeply rooted in her Roman Catholic faith, which remained a guiding presence throughout her years.
She shared many cherished years with her late husband, Raymond Brunelle. Together they built a loving family and a life filled with warmth and connection. Muriel is lovingly remembered by her son, Michael Brunelle, and his wife Kristen Fauria; her daughter, Monique Thibodeau, and her husband Peter Thibodeau. She was a devoted grandmother to Delaney Thibodeau and Mary Thibodeau, who brought immense joy to her life.
Muriel is also survived by her brother Roger LeBlanc and his wife Lorraine LeBlanc; her sisters Lucille Connolly and Rolande Paradis; as well as many extended family members who held a special place in her heart. She was predeceased by several dear relatives including her brothers-in-law John Connolly, Roger Paradis, Leo Brunelle, Normand Brunelle; and sisters-in-law Trudy Brunelle and Pauline Brunelle.
Known for her determined spirit, Muriel found joy in playing tennis in her youth and spending time antiquing. She especially treasured moments spent dining out and socializing with friends. Above all else, she embraced the role of grandmother with unmatched devotion and pride.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church in New Bedford, date to be announced.
Muriel’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.
