Natalie worked for many years as a stitcher at New Bedford Textile Mills, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. A simple woman with a heart of gold, she found joy in life’s little pleasures. She loved decorating for the holidays, both inside her home and out, and took great pride in her collection of old-fashioned knickknacks. Gardening was another passion, as was spending meaningful time with her family and friends, who meant everything to her.
Natalie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving niece, Janice Chisholm and her husband Daniel of New Bedford; many other nieces and nephews; Matthew Burgo, who was like a son-in-law to her and served as her devoted caregiver; and her best friend of many years, her neighbor, Lydia Galarza of New Bedford.
She was the mother of the late Karen Kent and sister of the late Francelina Moniz, Mary Leite, Joseph Simmons, Robert Simmons, Lydia Duarte, and Richard Simmons.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 9:00a.m. from Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Rivet Street, New Bedford. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery.
