Pauline Y. Fontes

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Paul and Eva (Handfield) Laflamme, she lived in New Bedford her entire life.

Pauline was a graduate of New Bedford High School Class of 1943 and Robert Bent Brigham Nursing School Class of 1950.

She worked as a nurse and at Walden Books. She was the past President of the Catholic Women’s Club and was a member of the Couples Club at the former St. John the Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her 3 sons, David Fontes of New Bedford; James Fontes and his wife Debra of New Bedford; Peter Fontes of New Bedford; a sister, Constance M. Aiello of Fairhaven; 4 grandchildren, Kerri, Caitlyn, Nathan and Courtney Fontes all of New Bedford; 2 great grandchildren, Sienna Fontes and Madyson Gilbride both of New Bedford and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Steven Fontes.

Her funeral will be held Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 8am at Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford followed a Mass of Christian Burial at 9am at St Joseph-St Therese Church, Acushnet Ave, New Bedford. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Friday, September 13, 2013 from 6-8pm.
