Born in New Bedford, a son of the late David A. and Alice L. (Chaput) St. Pierre, he had resided in New Bedford on George St. before moving to Assonet in 1972.
Mr. St. Pierre had worked as a First Class Machinist for Cornell Dubilier (where he met his wife), then Continental Screw for 29 years, and retired from Fall River Manufacturing.
Rene enjoyed traveling, fishing, woodworking, gardening and ballroom dancing. He enjoyed playing billiards at the senior center and volunteered at the Freetown Historical Society. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family who will miss him dearly.
His family includes four children, Rene D. St. Pierre, Jr. and wife Norie of San Jose, CA, Susan Sienko and husband Joseph of E. Taunton, Laurie D’Angelo and husband Joseph of Berkley and Thomas St. Pierre of Assonet; three grandchildren, Nhoriebhe St. Pierre and wife Mara of Germany, David Sienko and wife Melissa of Attleboro and Jason Sienko of Taunton; his siblings, Claire Metevier, Normand St. Pierre, Robert St. Pierre and wife Claire and Roger St. Pierre and wife Lorraine; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Annette Woodmansee and a brother, Alfred St. Pierre.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, May 12, 2024 from 2-5 p.m. in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Cemetery Chapel, 559 Mt. Pleasant St., New Bedford.
