Richard Henry Boucher, 71, died unexpectedly in Middletown, Pennsylvania, on August 20, 2024. He was born on December 16, 1952, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, son of the late Leo and Evelyn (Becotte) Boucher. He was the devoted husband of Isabelle Clara (Lawrence) Boucher and a loving father to Bernadette Anne (Boucher) Lear and Anthony David Boucher.
Richard attended St. Joseph’s School and St. Anthony’s High School in New Bedford and was a 1975 graduate of Southeastern Massachusetts University (now UMass Dartmouth). He played for New Bedford’s undefeated Pourier Post little league team in the 1960s and was a starting catcher for SMU in the 1970s. A hard worker who enjoyed cooking, he was a restaurant manager for Friendly’s, Newport Creamery, and Rainoni’s Pizzeria when he lived in Massachusetts.
Richard and Isabelle moved to Pennsylvania in 2004 to live with their daughter. He brought his strong work ethic with him. He was a supervisor at CVS until his retirement in 2019. He enjoyed bicycling, kayaking, ice skating, Christmas decorating, and watching sports. He was also an organist and loved Broadway musicals. He was a lifelong Catholic and member of Prince of Peace Parish in Steelton, PA. Most of all, we’ll remember his generous and jolly nature. Whenever we told him we loved him, his response was “I love you more!”
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Isabelle. He is survived by his daughter Bernadette and son-in-law Michael Lear of Middletown, PA; his son Anthony and daughter-in-law Kara (Betts) Boucher of Tucson, AZ; two grandsons, Dace Boucher and Tate Boucher of Tucson, AZ; and a large extended family.
