Rita M. (Clermont) Gendron, age 80 of New Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 in Sippican Health Care Center. She was the loving wife of Roland W. Gendron, to whom she had been happily married to for 62 years.
Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Edmont and Aurelie (Berube) Clermont. A lifelong New Bedford resident, she graduated from New Bedford High School. Rita was Past President of the Auxillary, Freetown VFW Post 6643, a choir member at St. Mary’s Church, Brownie leader, and a member of the knitting club.
In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons, Ronald Gendron and his wife Cathy of New Bedford and Russell Gendron and his wife Karen of Lakeville; a daughter, Rochelle Gendron and her wife Lori of Fall River; a brother Roger Clermont of Freetown; four grandchildren, Erin DeMello, Sean, Leah and Lily Gendron. She was the sister of the late Edmont, Omer and Napoleon Clermont and sister of the late Doris Richard.

Her funeral service will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 9:30AM in St. Mary’s Church, 343 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford. Relatives and friends are invited.
