Rose N. Engel

Born in Acushnet, where she lived and worked throughout her life, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Antoon. Mrs. Engel was employed as an Inspector at the Acushnet Company for many years. She was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church and former participant at Our Lady of Purgatory in New Bedford. She enjoyed line dancing, meeting friends at Pop Casey’s and Bingo, but was happiest when she was with family, especially her great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Engel is survived by her three children: John L. Engel Jr. and his wife Janice of Mattapoisett, Janice Silvani and her husband Wil of Acushnet and Cheryl Zimon and her husband Gene of Duxbury; seven grandchildren John and Peter Engel, Kate Marmelo, Stefanie Pinette, Lisa Boucher, Alison Zimon and Jeff Zimon; fourteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Msgr. O’Connor for all of his spiritual comfort and the dedicated staff from Millie’s Girls for the wonderful care provided to Rose.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 9AM from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, followed by her funeral mass at 10AM in St. Francis Xavier Church 125 Main St., Acushnet. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 4 to 7PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her honor may be made to Community Nurse and Hospice 62 Center St., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
