Born in New Bedford, a daughter of Emery Langlois of Humarock, MA and the late Maria Balbina (Abreu) Langlois, she was a lifelong area resident.
She is survived by three beloved sons and their fiances, Joshua Small and Mellissa of New Bedford, Justin Langlois and Sabrina of Plymouth, and Jordan Machado of New Bedford. She also leaves 7 grandchildren, Jade, Travis, Chance, Kaydence, Isabella, Kaliegh, and Ryker. She was the eldest daughter to Emery (Father) and Jeanette (Step-Mother) Langlois. She was sister to Michael of New Bedford, Andrew of Elizabeth City, NC, Edward and Kathy of Birdsboro, PA, Angela McCarty and “Mac” of Uxbridge, MA, Celeste Langlois and Randy of Blackstone, Massachusetts, and McKinley Black of Berlin, Germany. She was beloved “Aunty Rose” to her nieces, Corinne Degregorio of New Jersey; Candace Langlois of Blackstone, and Morgan McCarty of Uxbridge and her nephews Christopher and Nathan Langlois of Birdsboro, PA and Drew, Jonathan, and Isaac Langlois of North Carolina. Her family bond continues with three Step-Brothers, Fred Hayden of New Hampshire, Adam Hayden of Connecticut, and Daniel Hayden of Massachusetts and their children. She is also survived by numerous aunts, cousins, and friends that all loved her dearly.
All of her favorite things focused on spending time with her family and those that she loved whether it was just hanging out, sharing a meal, running a race, swimming, camping, singing, or sitting by a fire just to name a few. She loved the ocean, often times dragging whoever was with her to the sand to find the perfect shells. Her sisters, sons, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews loved walking the beach with her. She loved flowers, an appreciation given to her by her grandmother and aunts that never saw a flower plant or seed that they didn’t need.
Her capacity for love was incredible. Even when she was hurting by something that was going on in her life, she smiled, she persevered. Her life was not often easy with much heartache yet those that loved her felt her optimism, her love, and most of all her strength. “One of the strongest woman I have ever met” are often words that people use to describe her. She never gave up and in doing so, she encouraged others to be the best they could be.
As the final goodbyes are said, many will hurt more than they ever have in their life. The pain is real for so many people that were lucky enough to know her and in that pain, she will want all that love her to reflect on the good times, to plan a happy life, and to sing and dance even if it’s in the aisle at the grocery store. She would want you to laugh out loud while picking out a card at the store. She would want you to hug and kiss often as she never left without making you kiss and hug her or without saying love you. As she leaves us, the wonderful memories we shared will be her final “I love you”. We will remember her often and hopefully soon, the pain will be replaced with gratitude and happiness of knowing this woman that “May have been small but she was Mighty”!
Her visitation will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 1 to 4pm in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Burial will be private. Please visit www.rock-funeralhome.com for full obituary and to send tribute.
