Shawn P. Samanica

Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Leonard P. and Diane M. (Cayer) Samanica, he was a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of New Bedford High School and was employed as a Fairhaven Firefighter for the last 20 years. He was also employed at Southcoast Hospitals as a paramedic in the Emergency Room.

Shawn loved his daughter Skylar dearly. She was his best friend and his world. He was extremely proud of Skylar’s accomplishments. He was an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast and he enjoyed his yearly trip to Laconia Bike Week in New Hampshire. Shawn enjoyed his weekly night out with Skylar and his good friend Dennis. He was an avid camper and was a lifelong camper at Maple Park, Wareham. Shawn loved working with his hands; there was nothing he could not repair. If he could not fix it, he would research it and repair it.

In addition to his former wife, he is survived by his loving daughter, Skylar Samanica of New Bedford; a sister, Nicole Beauvais-Warr of FL; a brother Richard Samanica and his wife Krissa of New Bedford; his companion, Christine Hartman of Fairhaven; several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Shawn’s funeral service will be held on Monday, September 16, 2019 at 11AM in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Relatives and friends are invited.
