Theresa “Rock” Goyette, a woman of deep faith and boundless love, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025. She left this world just as she lived in it - surrounded by family, love, and laughter.
Born on February 26th, 1934, Theresa's life was defined by her faith, her family, and her generosity. A lifelong Christian, she shared her faith through her kindness and care for others. Her home was always open, her arms always welcoming, and her kitchen full of treats. From her famous banana bread to her constant supply of snacks, she showed her love in the most tangible ways, cooking for everyone who came to her table.
Theresa found beauty in life’s simplest joys. She was always singing, loved finding a bargain, and delighted in sharing goodies from her purse. She had a way of turning ordinary days into lasting memories, and never missed an opportunity for an ice cream outing.
The bond Theresa shared with her sisters was a cornerstone of her life, filled with shared joys and a mutual delight in spoiling the younger generations. As Memere or Ma Tante, she supported the family as a caretaker, confidant, and steady source of love. She listened fully, encouraged often, and always found the good in others. Her presence created a sense of comfort and belonging that will be deeply missed.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Theresa has now been joyfully reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Joseph “Mim” Goyette, who passed away on March 17th, 1998.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Rose Alma Rock, and her siblings, Alfred Rock, Arthur Rock, Rita Picard, Raymond Rock, Gerald Rock, and Daniel Rock.
She is survived by her loving siblings, Florence Dugal, Yvonne Silvia, Genevieve Linhares, and Simone Plante. She also leaves behind her four children: Paula (Marc) Reusch, Joe (Bonnie) Goyette, Phil (Jeanette) Goyette, and Jerilyn (Kenny) Underhill. Theresa will be dearly missed by her 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and her special niece, Carol. She also leaves behind countless cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Theresa’s devoted caregivers, Debbie, Roselee, Marie, and Robin for their loving support.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 12:30PM in Pine Grove Cemetery, 1100 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford, MA 02745.
