Born in Chelsea, a son of the late Gerald and Lillian (Smith) Kennedy, he was a resident of New Bedford for 34 years. He was a graduate of Weymouth High School and attended Northeastern University. Wayne was last employed by Stream International, Inc., in their Technical Support department for several years.
Wayne loved his family dearly, especially his son Matthew. Wayne took great pride in teaching Matthew how to golf, as well as coaching Matthew’s Little League team. Wayne enjoyed playing golf and scuba diving. He also loved all kinds of movies, including John Wayne westerns, old Errol Flynn adventures, 007 James Bond, Star Wars, Star Trek, and Lord of the Rings. He enjoyed traveling with the love of his life Genny and their son Matthew to Williamsburg, Virginia, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Disney World. He was very proud to be a licensed pilot.
Wayne was always proud of the fact that he participated in many sports while he could, including track, swimming, bicycling, as well as golf. He was proud that he found other ways to participate in sports, for example, by being the equipment manager for his high school football team. Wayne engaged in life and all the activities he enjoyed with enthusiasm and a good sense of humor.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his son, Matthew Kennedy and his wife Kristeen of VA; a brother, Paul Kennedy and his wife Kathleen of Carver; two sisters, Geraldine Karstunen and her husband Richard of Kingston and Janet Kennedy of UT; his grand pup Flower and several nieces and nephews. Wayne was very proud that his son was the first to attend college and graduate with both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees.
