

Adrienne Rees Carter, 40, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 24, 2021. She was born on March 17, 1981 in New Bern, NC. Adrienne was the beloved daughter of Rees Hamilton Carter and the late Fredrick Anderson Carter, III.
She is survived by the son she adored, Broderick Anderson Carter (Brody) of Wilmington and Greenville, her mother Rees Carter of New Bern, her brother Fredrick Anderson Carter, IV (Victoria) of Onalaska, Wisconsin, her stepmother Kathy Carter of New Bern, and her step-sister Mary Alice Sichi (Paul) of New
Bern. She is also survived by her grandparents Jim and Anna Hamilton of Jacksonville, NC.
Adrienne leaves behind her cherished friend and supporter, Scott Huie, Brody’s father, Brett Carpenter, and aunts and uncles Susan and Bill Thompson of Greensboro, NC, Cindy Kay of Zebulon, NC, Morgan Hamilton (Tom Langley) of La Center, Washington, Stephanie Huffman (Chris Perella), Allison (Chuck) Britt Huffman (Cheryl McCormick) and cousins Chris Thompson, Butch Kay, and Tim Kay, Mackenzie Hester, Michael and Owen McCormick. There are many extended family that will miss her.
Adrienne grew up attending Christ Episcopal Church where she actively participated in youth activities, and was baptized and confirmed. Adrienne attended Parrott Academy in Kinston, as well as schools in Craven County. She graduated from New Bern High School in 1999, and from Miller-Mott College with certificates in both Massage Therapy and Aesthetics. Adrienne worked as an Aesthetician in Wilmington, NC prior to her illness.
Adrienne was a friend to all, loved by many, and always selfless. Adrienne, Brody, and Scott spent many enjoyable times hanging out on the Intercoastal Waterway, playing in the ocean, fishing, and kayaking. They also enjoyed tossing the football or frisbee and playing board and card games, especially UNO! The family would like to express their appreciation to the friends and neighbors who were a great help to Adrienne during her illness: Goldie Robinson, Lindsay Monroe, and Bob and Kathy Huie.
Visitation for family and friends will take place at Cotten Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 4 from 5:00-7:00 pm. The funeral will be held at Christ Episcopal Church on Wednesday, January 5 at 2:00 pm with the Reverend H. Paul Canady as officiant. Cotten Funeral Home and Crematory is honored to serve the family and friends of Adrienne Rees Carter.
The family of Adrienne Carter would like to acknowledge the guidance and comfort received from Chris Bryant, as they travelled this unfamiliar road.
