
Andrea devoted 37 years of distinguished service to the United States State Department, serving as a diplomat throughout the Far East and Europe. Her career reflected her passion for public service, international relations, and cultural connection. She formed lifelong friendships and touched many lives through her work and travels abroad.
In her personal life, Andrea was a Master Gardener. She enjoyed traveling, playing Mahjong, golfing, and participating in her beloved book club. She treasured time spent with family and friends and will be remembered for her intelligence, kindness, adventurous spirit, and love of learning.
She is survived by her brother, Lawrence “Larry” Nelson (Sharon); and cousins, Karen Galdu, Carlene Stober, and Maria Stober.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Cotten Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Colonial Capital Humane Society.
