Anna Bailey Ramey Waymire
September 21, 1981 – September 13, 2021
A beautiful soul.
A beautiful life.
Mother, wife, daughter, friend, teacher and activist, Anna Waymire’s enthusiasm for life, and inspiring enthusiasm in others, didn’t come to an end with her death.
Preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Jim and Helen Creech; her paternal grandparents, Edward and Ellen Bailey; and her daughter, Violet, Anna is survived by her son, Fenton Jack Ramey (son of Craig Ramey); her husband, Ryan Waymire; her step-son, Nate Creasy (son of Ryan); her mother, Pat Bailey; her father, Paul Bailey, Jr. and his partner, Leiza Hall; her aunt, Delores Phillips; her aunt and uncle, Anne and Jimmy Hinnant; and her uncle and aunt, Pete and Diane Creech. Anna also leaves behind numerous pets, including Bear, Leia, and Atreyu.
Originally from Johnston County, Anna attended East Carolina University. In Beaufort County, she taught art, journalism, yearbook, and started the Southside High School’s broadcast news program, News Nest. Her proudest accomplishments, without a doubt, were her son, Fenton, and her work with students.
Full of love, with a personality truly larger than life, Anna will always be remembered for her unique style, decorating flair, and ability to paint. She was the archetypal art teacher, with big, wild glasses, bright clothes, and a brighter classroom, full of student art. She loved the ocean, the mountains, singing karaoke, and scary movies. While she was a bit mediocre at raising houseplants, it sure didn’t stop her from trying.
May we always remember her selflessness, her endless fight against injustice, and her heart full of love.
A casual memorial service is planned for October 3, 2021 at the beach. Details will be posted on social media.
