Bernard (Bernie) Hallam, 90, passed away December 9 at Carolina East Hospital following a brief illness.
He attended schools in Brooklyn, NY, and served in the army during WWII. He was employed by Allied Signal Corporation in Morristown, NJ, for 45 years. He and his wife retired to New Bern (River Bend) in 1992. He was a member of the Broad Creek Christian Church, and was a frustrated golfer the Quaker Neck Country Club.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Jo (Grimsley), daughter Julie Hallam Migliaccio and husband Joe and granddaughter Leah, of Connecticut.; son David and wife Sharon, and grandchildren John, Sarah, and James, of Ohio.
The family will receive visitors at the Cotten Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the Broad Creek Christian Church on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 11 a.m.
