Calvin Curtis Merrell Jr.

He was the only son born to his parents, Jeannine and Calvin Merrell,Sr. He is survived by six sisters, Marilyn Boyd (Jim), Brenda Laughinghouse (Kenneth), Debra Pless (Mike), Cindi Garrett, Neva Elks (Mike), and Lessi Lonstad (Ken Perkins); and a host of nieces and nephews.

Calvin had a kind heart and helped many friends during his short time on this earth. He was a special brother to his sisters and a true friend to many. He loved working on cars, and anything else with a motor. It might not always work after some tinkering but he enjoyed the challenge. We loved him dearly and he is already missed. Rest in eternal peace, Brother.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Cotten Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Michael Pope officiating. The family will receive friends for 30 minutes prior to the service. He will be laid to rest at Greenleaf Memorial Park close to his parents.

The family would like to thank all of the wonderful and caring people with Craven County Hospice, who helped care for Calvin in his last months. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Calvin's name to Craven County Hospice.
