Born on December 17, 1964, in Craven County, Carol was the daughter of Allen Russell Riggs and Alice Jeanette Stallings Riggs. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, "Cucuz," and an adopted "momma" to all who had the joy of knowing her.
Carol found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially spending time on the river and fishing with her husband, Gerald. The water was her happy place, where she felt the most at peace. Whether casting a line or simply enjoying the serenity of nature, she cherished every moment shared on the water.
In 2017, Carol was diagnosed with cancer, news no one ever wants to receive. In true Carol fashion, she faced it with grace, leaning on her unwavering faith. She fought bravely until she received her ultimate healing on February 4, 2025. With her steadfast belief, there is no doubt she is now sitting beside her Lord and Savior, and we will see her again one day.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Allen Russell Riggs and Alice Jeanette Stallings Riggs, and her brother, Ricky Allen Riggs.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Gerald Jones of the home; her son, Joshua Jones, and wife Crystal of Maysville, NC; her daughter, Ryan “Sissy” Mills, and husband Bobby Mills Jr. of Trenton, NC; and her cherished grandchildren, CJ and Audriana Mills. She also leaves behind her sister, Tammy Barnett, and husband Michael of Pollocksville, NC; nephew, Allen Barnett, and fiancée Kaccie Smith of Pollocksville, NC; niece, Kristina Barnett, and boyfriend Mikey Solter of New Bern, NC; and great-nephew, Kole Barnett. Additionally, she is survived by her special sisters-in-law, Mary and Merl Jones of Maysville, NC, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and loved ones she held dear.
A visitation and memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church Maysville, 201 Main St., Maysville, NC, on Saturday, February 8, 2025.
