He was a member of Pilgrim Chapel M.B. Church and the New Bern Elks Lodge. His interests included reading, dancing, the history of the James City area of New Bern and household repair. He was an avid conversationalist.
He is survived by his wife, Johnnye T. Spivey of New Bern; one son, Charles H. Spivey Jr.; and one sister, Sarah Mack, both of Wilmington.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Pilgrim Chapel M.B. Church. Burial will follow in the Meadows Cemetery.
