Charles Edward Swaringen

He retired from the City of New Bern, and his interests included, fishing and working puzzles.

Mr. Swaringen was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his son, Charles E. “Charlie” Swaringen, Jr., and two brothers, two brothers, E.J. Swaringen and Leon Swaringen.

He is survived by his wife Susie R. Swaringen, two daughters, Brenda Sue Avent of Clayton; Donna S. McCoy of New Bern; two brothers, Durwood Swaringen of Pollocksville; Ray Swaringen, of New Bern; three sisters, Clara Scott of Pamlico County; Juanita Howard of New Bern; Geneva Rhine of Winnow, Miss; a daughter in-law, Dianne Swaringen of New Bern; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, August 13, 2012 at Cotten Chapel with Rev. Bill Wingard and Rev. Dwight Williams officiating. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
