Cicero "Billy" William Gaskins Jr.

Cicero William "Billy" Gaskins, Jr., 77, of New Bern, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 1, 2017 and is now singing with the Angels. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 30 years and worked at PCS Phosphate (Texas Gulf) for 27 years. He loved his community and served as caretaker of the Sand Hill Road and on the Board of Directors at First Craven Sanitary District for 10 years. He enjoyed singing hymns of worship at Spring Hope F.W.B. Church and area churches. He will forever be remembered for his love of faith, family and country.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Ann S. Gaskins; two daughters, Anita Gaskins (David) and Michelle Mara (Brian); son, Tommy Coltraine; two granddaughters, Taylor "TBug" Niemotka and Elyn Rose Mara.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cicero William Gaskins, Sr. and Alice Lee Ipock Gaskins; daughter, Donna Coltraine; and granddaughter, Elle Michelle Mara.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at Cotten Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Lakeside Chapel of Greenleaf Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Spring Hope F.W.B. Church, c/o Eva Mae Clark, 465 Half Moon Road, New Bern, NC 28560.
