Conrad L Antaya

Conrad Laurent Antaya passed away peacefully with his step-daughters by his side on June 27, 2025. He was 78 years old. His memorial service will be held at Port City Community Church in New Bern on Saturday, August 2nd at 9 am. For directions, go to https://www.portcity.church/newbern.

Conrad was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts and settled in New Bern, NC. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 23 years, Harriet ‘Rosie’ Antaya and his parents, Laurent and Alice Antaya. He is survived by his step-daughters, Jackie Phifer and son-in-law Jimmy Phifer, Jenny Sanderson and son-in-law Dean Sanderson, his four grandchildren Garrett & Erin Phifer, David (Makenzie) & Adam Sanderson, his brother-in-law Harold ‘Ricky’ Burroughs, his nephew by previous marriage Billy Wilkes and longtime girlfriend Judy Spruill.

Conrad served Fleet Readiness Center East Cherry Point NC for 42 years before retiring from the business office. After retiring he volunteered for both church and community in various ways. Conrad enjoyed sightseeing, observing nature, playing games and crafting but most especially, being surrounded by loved ones.

Conrad was/IS dearly loved by many. Conrad was kind and generous; a genuine man of God with a gentle and loving spirit that made us all better for knowing him. He was reminded of that several times before making his way into Heaven.
