Corey was a vibrant, adventurous spirit who found his greatest joy in the outdoors. He loved fishing at Cape Hatteras with his dad and his brother Mark, and he cherished every chance to go camping, build campfires, hike, and simply be surrounded by nature. Whether he was playing his guitar, challenging someone to a game of chess, painting or drawing, or spending time on the water boating, Corey brought curiosity, creativity, and warmth to everything he did.
Corey is survived by his father, Mark Hansen and wife, Trish; his brother, Mark Douglas Hansen and wife, Meghan; his grandmothers, Hellen Hansen and Carol Thorton; his nephews Tyler and Jaxon Hansen; his sister, Morgan Tapper and husband, Jason, and their niece, McKenzie Tapper. He is also remembered with love by many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and countless friends and co-workers.
Corey was preceded in death by his mother, Cynthia Powell.
He formed lasting bonds with many throughout his life, especially close friends Mark McCoy and Coral Russell, who held a special place in his heart.
Corey’s kindness, humor, and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Cotten Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve the family and friends of Corey Clayton Hansen.
