She attended New Covenant Church.
She is survived by her husband Barry R. Hertel, two daughters, Tracie A. Sparks (Donald) of New Bern; Megan S. McGraw (Michaels) of Charlotte; one sister, Shelley J. Lee (Ed) of Lockport, NY; and two grandchildren, Bryce E. Sparks and Trent R. Sparks.

Services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, August 13, 2012 at Cotten Chapel. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Cotten and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Burial will follow at New Bern Memorial Cemetery.
