

David lived a life defined by service, discipline, adventure, and a deep love of country. He attended the University of Florida, and in 1963, he was commissioned into the United States Marine Corps to begin his career as an aviator, officer, and a leader. Some of his accomplishments included leading fellow Marines, training aviators, and improving operational safety, and he helped shape Marine Aviation's development and operational readiness. His service was recognized with numerous honors.
David was an avid outdoorsman, loved sailing his sailboat, and traveling across the United States in a Motorhome. David wrote five novels, which reflected his love of life. His creativity was evident in his woodworking skills, especially in his own designs.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Nancy Corbett. He is survived by his wife Donna, his sons Woody, John, Skye, and Reide Corbett, and his sister Lynn Marchese, five Stepsons, plus many Grandchildren.
David leaves behind a legacy that will endure in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
The Celebration of Life and memorial service will be on June 19th, at 1:00 PM at Cotten Funeral Home, 2201 Neuse Boulevard, New Bern, North Carolina 28560. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
