

LEWISVILLE — David Klingeman Folmer, 95, formerly of New Bern, died peacefully at his home in Lewisville on Sunday, May 20, 2012.
He was born on August 16, 1916 in Reading, Pennsylvania. During World War II he served on active duty with the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps in northern France. Following the war, he returned to work in the banking business in Washington, D.C. In 1960, he graduated from The American Institute of Banking at Rutgers University and was later promoted to Vice President of First National Bank in Washington, D.C. He retired from banking in 1981 and moved to New Bern.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy, in 1990.
He and his wife of 20 years, Frances James Folmer, moved to Lewisville in 2007.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Janice Jones (husband Skip) of New Bern; his second wife’s son, Wayne Mumford (wife Sue) of North Myrtle Beach and daughters, Joanne Hill (husband Gary) of San Antonio, Texas, Janice Knight (husband Richard) of Lewisville and Sandra Matthews (husband Roy) of Winston-Salem; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel. A private burial will be held. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
