

She retired from Craven County Schools with 25 years of service. She was a charter member of Faith United Methodist Church, Craven County Home Extension Club, and a former member of Riverside United Methodist Church. She also sang in the choir.
She is preceded in death by her husband Elton Grey Dixon, Sr.
She is survived by her son Elton Grey Dixon, Jr. (Linda) of Matthews, NC; daughter Jan Dixon Hitchcock of New Bern; sister Christine Vaughan of New Bern; grandchildren Reverend Michael Dixon (Nikki) of Fort Mill, SC, Bethany Hodges (Todd) of Asheville, NC, Sarah Gray Ihrer (Ron) of Lanai City, Lanai Hawaii, and Richard Hitchcock (Sara) of New Bern; great grandchildren Lewellyn Dixon, Boston Dixon, Wyatt Hodges, Ciara Jarman and Maxwell Ihrer and many loving family members.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday, December 16, 2016 at Cotten Funeral Home.
