Dorothy Kerr Smith

Dorothy Kerr Smith, 79, passed away peacefully at home with her beloved husband of the past 13 years by her side, Carloyn G. Smith. Her eyes would light up when he walked into the room. Dorothy was born on January 1, 1936. She retired from Belk in 2002, working for many years as a buyer, then as a Lancome and Clinique cosmetician.

She is survived by her husband, Carloyn G. Smith; her daughters Kathy Kerr Regalmuto and husband Mark of Morehead City and Victoria Kerr of Brevard, NC; sons Richard Kerr, Jr. of Morehead City and William Kerr of Raleigh, NC; Carloyn’s children Patricia Smith Harrison and husband Sherwood of New Bern, Jackie Smith Moser of New Bern, Mary Smith Bunney and husband Courtney of New Bern and Stephen Scott Smith and wife Melissa of New Bern; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband Richard Jess Kerr, Sr., who she worked side by side with as owners and operators of the Red and White in Atlantic Beach, and her cherished sister Blanche Valentine, who raised her from a child.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Continuum Home Care and Hospice, 1505 South Glenburnie Road, New Bern, NC 28562.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 6, 2015 at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be Greenleaf Memorial Park.
