Frederick Peter Schulz

Pete as he was always referred to, grew up along the banks of the Great South Bay. He had saltwater in his veins and developed a love for sailing at a very early age, first on small boats, and later in life, on his beloved sailboat.

Pete met the love of his life Geranne Euler Schwarzenbach (Gerry) at Friends Academy in Locust Valley. They were married for over 50 years.

Pete and Gerry lived their lives on Long Island until retiring in New Bern in 2001. There they spent many wonderful years together exploring the area via boat.

He loved sailing, the opera, shows produced by Craven concerts, and playing racquetball with his friends. He was an active member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church and the New Bern Yacht Club.

He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Preston of Wilmington, NC (husband Chris Preston), and grandson Conerly Preston.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 11:30 am at New Bern Yacht Club, 1206 Brices Creek Rd, New Bern, NC. All who knew Pete are welcome to attend.
