Gail Cain Krielow changed her address on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at the age 88 to reside with those loved ones who passed before—her beloved daughter, Laurel; her parents, Virginia and Hayden Cain; her in-laws, Ann and Walter Krielow; and many dear pets.
Gail's dad told her from a young age that she was going to be a teacher and that she would graduate from Mather College of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio with a B.A. and M.A. in education. Those first graders knew how to read, write, and do their math when they went on to second grade!!
As busy as she was during her working years, dinner was always served by 5:30 for Gail’s loving high school sweetheart and husband Gene, daughters Lynn, Leslie, and Laurel, her father, Hayden, and Gene's mom, Ann. The house was always cleaned every Saturday. These rituals were important because they helped maintain balance and ritual in a very chaotic household with a bevy of animals in and out of the house.
After living her entire life in and around the Cleveland, Ohio area, Gail and Gene retired to New Bern, North Carolina in 1990. They volunteered for the Historical Society; they became active members of First Presbyterian Church; Gail joined the DAR, and Trent Woods Garden Club. They became owners/operators of The Frame Shop and Gallery. They were founding members of the New Bern Yacht Club. Gail kept busy cooking for family and friends. She kept busy with sewing, knitting, quilting, gardening, playing bridge, traveling, and enjoying time on the beach.
Gail’s spirit and love lives on through her gift of hand-knitted hats and gloves donated to the students at Oaks Road Elementary School every year through the Trent Woods Garden Club, her many gifts of sweaters to family and friends, and treasured handmade quilts. No one makes Grandma Ann’s cheesecake and spoon bread like our dear mother.
The family asks for privacy at-this-time. Please, no phone calls, no house visits, no food delivered during this private family time of grieving. Condolence cards will be accepted, or personal comments posted here.
Gail is survived by her husband of 66 years and 11 months, Gene A. Krielow; daughters, Leslie Ann Rudasi, and Lynn Krielow Chamberlain and husband Gregory Chamberlain; grandchildren, Alexander Rudasi, Eleanor Rudasi and husband Nathan Sondelski, and Krielow Chamberlain and wife Shareen Chamberlain.
