

Harry Joseph Killian died September 29, 2016 at Riverpoint Crest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Harry was born on March 18, 1924 in Union City, New Jersey. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps - serving in the Pacific theater with the VMB-423 bomber squadron. He earned degrees from both the Pratt Institute and Fairleigh Dickinson College. In the late 1940’s, he became an apprentice with a large architectural firm in New Jersey – enabling him to become an architectural draftsman. Harry continued in this career until his retirement in the late 1980.s. He married Virginia Ann Newman, in 1952. Sadly, Virginia passed away in 1978.
Harry retired to New Bern in the early 1990’s. He designed and built his home in Greenbrier where he lived with his beloved dogs. He became an active volunteer with various local organizations and traveled extensively for as long as his health permitted. He was a gentleman as well as a gentle man. Those whose paths have crossed with Harry’s are forever changed in a very positive way. He will be missed.
A mass at St. Paul Catholic Church will be held on Monday, October 3rd at 1:00 PM. Burial will be at a later date in the Cemetery of the Ascension in Rockland County, NY.
