Isabelle Marie-Therse Grolimund

A Remembrance Service will be held 11 am - 1 pm, December 11, 2020 at the Cotten Funeral Home, New Bern, NC.

Isabelle, was born April 9, 1926 in Bern, Switzerland. Isabelle met her future husband Eric Grolimund (now deceased) in Bern, Switzerland. Together they immigrated to the United States (U.S.) after World War II and became naturalized U.S. citizens. They got married in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1948 and shortly thereafter relocated to northern New Jersey where she had worked as a travel agent in New York city. Subsequently, Eric's career with Kaiser Jeep International gave both Isabelle and Eric wonderful memories of traveling and living overseas in numerous places throughout Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. They returned to the U.S. and settled in New Jersey until 1985 when they retired to Fairfield Harbor in New Bern, NC (New Bern is a sister city of Bern, Switzerland). When Eric passed away, Isabelle moved to McCarthy Court and later on to Croaten Village. As long as she was able, Isabelle enjoyed swimming, reading, and playing cards (especially Rummy) for hours-on-end. Isabelle is survived by two proud sons, Theodore and Mark who are married to Diana and Rena and live in Alexandria, VA and Sunset Beach, NC respectively.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to their community hospice or palliative care organization.
