

Jim Brown of Brices Creek, New Bern, NC was born March 6, 1938. He was the son of the late Carl and Bett Brown and was born in Greene County, NC. He and his family moved to Jones County when Jim was 14 years old. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother Willie Carol Brown. Jim was a graduate of Jones Central High School where he also played football. Jim worked with his family at a local corn mill in Jones County before he began farming at the age of 19. In 1958 he married Patricia Ann Boyette. They later moved to Brices Creek, New Bern, NC where they raised their two daughters. Their home is still in Brices Creek and have resided there for 60 years. Jim was blessed with infinite friends who brought him much happiness, companionship, and laughter. Jim was also known to be a great delegator! He spent many times with his family and friends at New Bern Gun & Hunting Club, "The Palace," and "The Cantina." An all time favorite for Jim was just a slow ride through the woods while listening to Willie's Roadhouse. He loved farming and nature. He was a true outdoors man. He also loved cooking, fishing, gardening and fellowship with his family and many friends. Jim was known far and wide for his cooking and his hospitality! His greatest legacy was love for his family, friends and mentoring. He was a loving caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Granddaddy Monk will be greatly missed by his family and all the lives he touched.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Cotten Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 1:00pm Thursday, March 3, 2022 at the Lakeside Chapel at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Boyette Brown; daughters, Terry Rolison (Milton Hooker) of Pollocksville and Cathy Brown (Kip Everette) of Enfield and Swansboro; Brothers, Gary Brown of Morehead City, Billy E. Brown (Lisa) of Pinetown ; sister-in-law, Nancy Brown; grandchildren, Erica Latham and Kelly Rolison; great grandchildren, Carlie Rolison, Kyndalynn Latham and Eason "Buddy" Latham.
Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Craven County Hospice or the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission.
