Growing up in Carrollton, Texas, James was known as "Jimmy." He had a joyful childhood, filled with adventures as a little cowboy. He enjoyed riding horses, helping his father on the farm, and even playfully throwing his little sister into a horse tank, an act that he probably thought was all in good fun. Art was another passion for Jimmy; he had a talent for drawing that showcased his creativity.
James's father, Dr. James A. Krise, was a respected doctor, while his mother, Unalee Cook Krise Zacharias, was a devoted housewife. Notably, his mother also worked as a midwife, assisting his father in delivering babies in their community. This background instilled in Jimmy a strong sense of service and care for others.
During his high school years at RL Turner High School, Jimmy excelled both academically and athletically. He was not only an athlete but also served as the senior class president, demonstrating his leadership skills. His close friendship with Gary Goolsby was well-known; they were often seen as a dynamic duo, much like the comedic pair Cheech and Chong.
Jimmy was known for his fun-loving and mischievous spirit, endearing him to many. After graduating from college at North Texas University, he began his career at Sears and Roebuck, where he worked for 35 years before retiring to New Bern, North Carolina. His commitment to community continued as he became Treasurer and a Vestry member in his church, reflecting his dedication to faith and service.
James is survived by his loving wife, Sharon, and their three children: Michelle, Eric, and Anna. He was also a proud grandfather to Nicholas, Brody, Coreana, and Ariana, and he is remembered fondly by his sister, Kristina Krise Shaw. His family and friends will miss him dearly, as he brought joy and laughter into their lives.
