James Stephen Sklavos

It is with great sadness that the family of James Stephen Sklavos announces his passing after an extended illness, on Saturday, December 22nd at the age of 72 years.

He is preceded in death by his Mother, Virginia D. Sklavos, Father, Harry Sklavos, his brother Clyde Padgett, his sister Peggy Spain.

Steve will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years Karen Sklavos, daughter’s Vonda Covington (William) and grandson Ramsey Covington. Ashley Arndt (Glenn) and grandson’s Robert and Austin Arndt. He is also survived by his sister in law’s Diane Stotesbury and Phyllis Norton (Allyn) and Aunt Irma Greytak and many other special nieces and nephews.

Steve spent most of his 40 year career as an executive in the Marine Finance industry. During this time he made many special friends and he prided himself in many lifelong relationships.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing and most of all spending time with his family.

His family will be receiving friends on Thursday December 27th from 2-4PM at the Cotten Funeral Home in New Bern, NC 28560. A memorial service will immediately follow in the Chapel.
