

Born in Bridgeton, she was the daughter of the late Sarah Register Benton and William Ransom Benton. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers James, Jack, Lenwood, Raymond and Frank Benton; sisters Marguerite Hare, Connie DeLorme and Bonnie White. Surviving are her daughters, Beverly Martin and Teri Crum (Stephen); grandchildren, Stacey Bacsi (Andras), Jeffrey Clare (Lesley) and Penny Winters (Scott); great grandchildren Brett Clare (Kayla), Addison Schroeder (Addy), Cheyenne Swartz (Eric), Justin Clare, Dalton Clare (Laura), Dakota Hess (Julia); McKenzie, Zachary and Kameran Winters; Great Great Grandchildren Braelynn Clare, Hayden Smith and Chase Clare. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Jeri was a long distance telephone operator, clerk in the shipping department at Cherry Point Marine Base and a sales clerk at Copeland Smith in New Bern. She worked in the gift shop at Dutch Wonderland and the Holiday Inn, was a clerk at Logan's Dress Store and worked at RCA, all in Lancaster, PA. After being displaced by Hurricane Agnes in the early 1970's, she moved to California where she was a cashier at the Nevada Lodge & Casino. After returning to Bridgeton to care for her parents, she did volunteer work at Craven County Hospital, Tryon Palace and the soup Kitchen in New Bern and was a franchise owner of the Lollipop tree in Havelock NC in the late 1990's. Over her lifetime she enjoyed bowling, gardening, making baskets, photo albums and seashell wreaths. She traveled to Puerto Rico, California and Canada.

Graveside services will be held at the family's convenience with interment at Greenleaf Memorial Cemetery.
