Joanne Sims Denn

Joanne was the consummate caretaker ever seeing to the needs of others before herself, even on the simplest of matters. She beamed with love sharing time with her family and friends while absolutely smitten in the presence of her grandchildren. When not doting over her children and grandchildren, she could be found bounding in the kitchen ensuring no one went without. She reveled in preparing traditional southern fare…especially when it came to those meals associated with holidays. The home carried fabulous aromas when it came to those special holidays. She was a dedicated Marine wife of 27 years enduring countless deployments, and household moves around the globe with some as far as the Pacific rim. Her hobbies included the love of gardening and tending to her flowers amidst a flamboyance of pink flamingos…she had them everywhere.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years Major Lloyd “Skip” Denn USMC (ret); Thomas Porterfield Jr. of Hull, GA; Marsha (Denn) Bland of James City, NC; and Lieutenant Jonathon Denn USN, of Chesapeake, VA.
