

Joseph was born on April 22, 1935 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Ernest Judd and Josie Green Judd.
He graduated from North Carolina State University in January 1963. He obtained a doctorate of Philosophy and Animal Sciences. During his career he became the Lab Chief of the Human Nutrition Research Center for the USDA in Beltsville, MD. One of his studies had researchers look at the effects of butter and two margarines on blood lipids of 46 volunteers in a 15 week study. He was a great gardener and some of his passions were growing iris and fresh vegetables.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Norma, son Jonathan LaFever Judd, daughter Suzanne Nichole Williams, and son John Lee Williams, as well as, their adored pet Bischon Ace.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his late wife Betty Ruth LaFever Judd, son Benjamin Ernest Judd, sisters Earnestine Allen and MaryAnn Campbell and a brother Eugene Harold Judd.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Garber Methodist Church, 4201 Country Club Rd, New Bern, NC 28562. The Celebration of Life will also be live streamed at https://garberchurch.org/.
