I was so saddened today to hear of the passing of Mrs. Riggs. As a childhood friend of Michael and Griffin, I will forever remember the kind heart their mother had. As a child of a teacher I know the countless lives she has touched over the years, sending all my love to the Riggs family during this difficult time. 

From all the family I just wanna say thank you all the kind and heartfelt memories everyone shared my mother would appreciate everything

Mama your service was beautiful yesterday I really think you would have liked it it wasn’t hot outside I know you never enjoyed hot weather I love you 

Mrs. Riggs held a special place in my heart. She drove my older kids to Brinson Elementary for many years. She always had a handle on the happenings on her bus. She made me feel better about the bus rides knowing she looked out for everyone of “her” kids on the bus. Her kindness continued after retirement as I would see her around town and she would still ask about my kids by name and to tell them she said hello.  💕

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Ms. Joyce, I remember my Dad(Bill Lloyd) coming home saying he and Mr. Lee had a big dinner at the house and that he loved Ms. Joyce cooking. I remember when I had moved into grandmas old house and I hadn’t been long got Marion you called him your grand puppy you used to come over and you would have treats in your pockets you would sit down on the couch and he would stick his entire head in your pockets and get a treat out and you would tell him that for now he was your only grandchild and that one day you hopefully would have a two legged one well that came true ( landis, Easton and Anderson I miss you so much I have never felt a pain like this I’m my life I love you, GRIFFIN 

 I will miss Joyces lovely smile. 
She was a kind and loving person. 
We have memories  of many days growing up together.

Lee and family, I am so sad to hear about Joyce.  I worked with her for many years at the mental health center.  In  the following years  we would visit  and catch up on each other’s families from time to time out in the community when out paths would cross.  It is a great loss for her friends, but especially for you all.  I pray God’s Grace will sustain you.

The love this beautiful woman showed her students everyday is second to none. Mrs. Riggs loved every child like they were her own. Her kind spirit and smile made going to school a wonderful experience and she will always be a bright spot when I look back to my childhood. I pray for comfort for the family. 

Forever a Brinson Brave 

Heaven gained a beautiful soul and angel. She will never know how much I need those hugs in a hallway or isle from Kindergarten to a grown up in Target. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. 

I am saddened to hear Joyce passed.  I knew her and her parents growing up.  We went to many church functions at Neuse Forest Presbyterian Church.   She was a sweet, loving, and kind person.  May the peace of the LORD be with her family.  

My condolences go out to the immediate and extended family of Mrs. Riggs. 
I am deeply saddened but grateful for the opportunity to ride on Mrs. Riggs bus daily  throughout elementary school. She was simply an amazing  person and smiled every time a student entered that bus in James city.  I was her little “Rinardo” back then but if I had one more chance I’d let her know that I’ve gotten my act together and earned a commission as an Officer in the United States Coast Guard. I have too many memories to point out one particular but I’ll never forget her smile and laughter. thank you for being a highlight of my youth. I love you Mrs. Riggs! May you Rest in Heaven! 

 I worked with  Joyce @ Brinson School during the 90s. She was a very sweet lady that always had a smile on her face. & she loved her family very much. I remember her being so excited when Griffin & Michael were planning their weddings, & she always spoke lovingly  of her husband Lee. May You find peace through her memories. Joyce was such a nice person. I  met her while my children were at Brinson.She was always very pleasant with a smile.

I have known Joyce since she was a little girl.  Her mother and daddy were our neighbors and good friends for many years.  I played for Joyce and Lee's wedding.  My heart goes out to you Lee, Griffin and Michael.

mama I love you very much I wish we had more time I cannot thank you enough for all you did for me you were really sick for a long time but I wanna remember all the time when you weren’t, teachers assistant 20 years you made a lot of lollipops I remember when you burned your hand you always made sure to give all our teachers a present and you always cooked for us even after working all day you were definitely a morning person I remember me and you eating breakfast at Waffle House in the morning usually around 5:00 am you were really outgoing you made friends anywhere you went it reminds me of grandma I remember when they had a big party for me down on hoke street and you made a big chocolate cake and you and daddy went down and stayed for a awhile and back then me and my friends really were wild but you being there meant a lot also when I had an MRI you drove me and then me and you had breakfast just the two of us mama I cannot tell you how much I will miss a part of me is gone I love you very much, GRIFFIN 

Oh Joyce, you have gained your wings, fly high my friend, until we meet again. Always enjoyed our little chats. She also had my daughter in kindergarten. Lee and boys, our thoughts and prayers are with you in the upcoming days. She will surely be missed. 

I worked with Joyce for 10 years at the Mental Health Center many years ago and we have remained very close friends ever since.   She was a very loving and dear friend to me.   Always willing to help out, lend a kind word, or just listen.   We enjoyed sharing stories of our children and grandchildren .   My condolences to all the family.  She will surely be missed beyond words.   

I knew Joyce for many years. She came in my yarn shop, and I had kids at Brinson. She was always kind and she will be missed. 

So sorry for the  loss of a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  Sending hugs and prayers to you all! I met Joyce through Ruth Wilson and her boys were friends with my Chad and Brad! She was a good lady!

I met Joyce when our family was at First Presbyterian.    She was always such a sweet lady and remembered fondly.   Prayers go out to Lee and family.  

Condolences to Joyce's family.  I met Joyce at Brinson Memorial many years ago. She always had a smile on her face and big hello to everyone she met in the hallway. She adored her "Brinson" children and left a loving impact on all her bus children and classroom children. God speed, Joyce!
