She was a member of Spring Hope Church. Joyce is preceded in death by her husband Jimmie Ray Sawyer, her parents, Charlie and Clara Jones and her brother, Charlie Jones, Jr.
She is survived by her son, Ray Sawyer and fiance’ Jennifer Bell of Vanceboro; three grandchildren, Travis Tillman of New Bern; Ashley Paige “A.P.” Sawyer of Bridgeton; Kristen Sawyer “Sissy” Toler of Ernul; two great-grandchildren, Brycen Nicole Toler and Brenna Rae Harper, her special niece, Lisa Carpenter Smith of Adams Creek and special cousins, Daniel and Cindy Sawyer of New Bern.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the Stilley Family Cemetery with Rev. McDonald Bennett and Rev. Jim Marshburn officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Cotten Funeral Home.
