Kenneth N. “Ken” Price of Melrose, and recently of Havelock, NC, died on Sunday, July 29th, at the Cherry Point Bay Nursing Home in Havelock at the age of 56. Born in Melrose in 1956, Ken was the son of the late Harry R. and Anna F. Price of Melrose. Ken graduated from the Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational High School in Wakefield, MA, where he played on the football and baseball teams and studied auto body repair. After attending locksmithing school in Boston, Ken worked as a locksmith and as a security guard at the Choate Hospital in Woburn. Ken enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family and friends.
After visiting the Patriot’s training camp with his father in the early 60’s, Ken went on to become an avid sports fan who loved to root for the Boston sports teams, especially the New England Patriots; he was thrilled to watch his beloved Patriots win several Super Bowls in recent years.
Although Ken valiantly struggled with much adversity throughout his life, he also found much pleasure in the little things, and blessed us all with his wonderful smile. Ken will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ken is survived by his sister Janice Horgan and her husband Tom of Havelock, NC, sister Elizabeth (Betty) Price of Lynn, MA, brother Robert (Bob) and his wife Caryl of Austin, TX, nephew and good friend, Tom Horgan, Jr. of Havelock, NC, niece Amy Lagos of Manassas, VA, a great-niece, six great-nephews, an uncle, aunts and cousins.
Information about memorial services will follow. Burial will be at the Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ken’s memory can be made to your favorite charity.
