Lawrence "Rick" Richard Tillett

Lawrence "Rick" Richard Tillett, a resident of New Bern, North Carolina, passed away on January 23, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on March 1, 1947, Rick was known for his humorous, honest, and resilient nature.

Rick earned a bachelor's degree in horticulture from State University of New York at Farmingdale. Throughout his career, he worked as a dairy farmer, a sawyer, and a street sweeper for the city of New Bern. His diverse professional life reflected his identity as a jack of all trades.

Rick was a creative soul with a passion for craft beer, cigars, and all things culinary. He was a skilled craftsman, known for his woodworking and stained glass creations. His love for the outdoors and his friends was evident in everything he did.

Rick is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Vicki S. Tillett; his daughter, Crysta Ryan; his son, Guy Tillett, and his wife Denise; and his grandchildren, Samantha and Patrick Ryan, and Brett Tillett. He is also survived by his three brothers, David, Harry, and Michael Tillett.
