Linda Renee' Richards

Linda Renee Richards, 73, of New Bern, passed away in the comfort of her family peacefully on August 8, 2023. Linda was born in Alexandria, VA and lived a wonderful life with her parents Albert and Mae Crum and siblings Patricia, Donna, Kenneth, and Glen (Lenny). On January 27, 1973, Linda married Leonard James Richards Jr. at Engleside Baptist Church in Alexandria, VA. Linda and Lenny lived most of their lives in Northern Virginia with their children and eventually retired in Palmyra, VA on the farm. They later moved to New Bern, NC.

During her life, Linda spent most of her career working with her Mom and sister-in-law Cindy at Future Farmers of America where she worked for 16 years. Linda also worked at the Northern Virginia Training Center, helping children with special needs. After retiring, she worked the Help Desk at Martha Jefferson Hospital where she insisted she was really a Doctor. Linda enjoyed spending her Saturday morning going to yard sales, and mowing the yard on the farm in Palmyra, VA. Linda also enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She never knew a stranger and loved to make people laugh.

Linda leaves behind her loving husband of 50 years, Leonard Richards Jr.; her children Dawn, Denise (Billy Large), and Leonard Richards III (Tia Richards); foster daughter JeanAnn Sukeena; as well as grandchildren Sean (Miranda), Kristopher (Cat), Kasey (Emily), Aaron, William, Alexiss, Noah, Harley, Jayden, Leonard IV and Chloe. Great grandchildren include Zayne, Avery and Everleigh (Sean and Miranda), Jordan (Kris and Cat), as well as Elizabeth (Kasey and Emily).

Flowers and/or Contributions can be sent to either Servants of Christ Baptist Church or Croatan Free Will Baptist Church in her honor.

A home going Memorial Service will be held at Croatan Free Will Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023. The church is located at 7028 Highway 70 East in New Bern, NC. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 19, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Servants of Christ Baptist Church located at 60 Sommerfield Drive, Zions Crossroads, VA 22942.
