Lindsey Frank Wyatt, was born in Wilson, NC on Easter Sunday, March 28th, 1948. He passed away in his home, surrounded by family on June 23rd, 2022. His parents were Archie Brazelle Wyatt of Mount Olive and Blanche Jarvis Bullock of Autryville. He grew up in a tight knit, middle class neighborhood on Clyde Avenue in Wilson alongside his younger twin brothers, Buck and Dickie.
He met his wife Cheryl Louise Hart at Elon College in the fall of 1966. They were married in Pennington, NJ on September 7th, 1969. He graduated from Elon College in 1970, shortly thereafter he began his career in Jones County teaching. Lindsey and Cheryl moved to Jasper in the spring of 1976 across from Mr. Roscoe Case’s Store. Their first daughter Alicia was born that September and their second daughter Erica arrived two years later.
Alicia went on to marry Jason Neal in June of 1997 and Erica married Jamey Graves in October of 2002. Alicia and Jason had two children, Audrey and Wyatt. Erica and Jamey had one son, Tripp.
During Lindsey's career, he was most passionate about political science at Jones Senior High School, he also taught sixth grade at Trenton Elementary and taught two years at Jones Middle School. He spent 30 years of his life educating young people in Jones County. He spent a few summers taking pictures for the local newspaper, The Sun Journal. He helped the community by volunteering with the Jasper Rescue Squad. He was also a Pastmaster of St. John’s Masonic Lodge, he was a member of the Scottish Rite and Sudan Temple. Then to keep busy in his retirement he worked at Waldenbooks. He was an avid reader and participant in numerous book clubs (willingly sharing information or suggestions to anyone). He was an active member of the gun club located at Spring Garden. He was a faithful member of Asbury United Methodist Church, participating in various District Committees supporting the United Methodist Church.
He was survived by his wife Cheryl and two daughters and their spouses; Alicia and Jason Neal, of Loveland, OH and Erica and Jamey Graves, of Charlotte, NC. He was also survived by his three grandchildren; Audrey and Wyatt Neal and Tripp Graves and his two brothers and spouse; Richard Wyatt (and wife Cindy) and James Wyatt.
Due to his ongoing support and passion for the needs of the community, the family has requested that any donations or gifts be given to the Religious Community Services (RCS), located at P.O. Box 704 New Bern, NC 28560.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cotten Funeral Home. The family will have a private memorial service at a later date. Cotten Funeral Home is honored to serve the family and friends of Lindsey Frank Wyatt.
