

Margaret Joanne Eschels, known affectionately by her loved ones as "JoJo," born October 11, 1960, in The Hague, Netherlands, passed on December 26, 2024. JoJo was a beacon of unwavering love, support, and generosity, who embodied resilience in every facet of her life. She made her home in New Bern, North Carolina, where her vibrant spirit and warm personality will forever reside in the hearts of those she touched.
JoJo's professional journey was as a Sales Associate in retail, where she spent a remarkable 18 years with Target. She found her work fulfilling and enjoyed helping customers. Her resilient nature was evident in her dedication to her job and her commitment to customer service. Outside of her professional life, JoJo found joy in the simplest pleasures of life like going to the beach and spending time with her family. She was the epitome of the saying, "Family is not an important thing. It's everything." Her love for her children and grandchildren was boundless and they were the center of her universe. She was everyone's biggest fan, cheering everyone on with an unparalleled enthusiasm, always placing the needs of others before her own.
JoJo leaves behind a legacy of love, embodied by her surviving family members: her daughters, Laurel Veto (Shane Holt) and Taylor Veto (Dylan Hughes); her life partner, Timothy Veto; her brother, Robert Polzin, Jr.; sisters, Mary, Cathy, Jackie, and Julie Polzin; and her beloved grandchildren, Kailey Holt, Charlie Holt, and Winry Hughes. Each of them carry a piece of JoJo's loving, supportive, generous, and resilient spirit within their hearts, a testament to her incredible influence.
A visitation for Margaret will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cotten Funeral Home, 2201 Neuse Blvd, New Bern, North Carolina 28560, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 PM.
It is said that "The heart that has truly loved never forgets." So let us remember JoJo, not with grief and loss, but with joy and gratitude for the love she shared and the lives she touched.
