She was a member of Highland Park Christian Church. She also retired after a long career with Sears.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband, Darwin S. Whittington, son, Richard Darwin Whittington, brother, Edward Jackson, sister, Ernestine J. Lee.
She is survived by her son, Frederick Millard Whittington of New Bern, NC, daughter, Ann Whittington Buckner of New Bern, NC, and three grandsons; James Frederick Whittington of IL, Michael Rand and Richard Buckner of New Bern, NC.
The family will receive friends at Cotten Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 from the hours of 4-6:00pm. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 6:00pm at Cotten Funeral Home. Burial will take place on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Greenwood Cemetery, Dunn, NC.
